Provide professional guitar lessons for all ages from complete beginner to intermediate and advanced level. We are specialized in teaching AMEB classical guitar syllabus and grades exam preparation. However we are happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn the guitar for a personal hobby, fun and pleasure.
GUITAR TEACHING METHODS AND STYLES
We teach classical guitar techniques which use the fingernail and fingertips to pluck individual strings on an acoustical wooden guitar with 6 nylon strings as opposed to the metal strings used in acoustic and electric guitars. We use the methods and techniques from the world-renowned famous guitarists and composers:
Ferdinando Carulli (French 1770 - 1841)
Fernando Sor (Spanish 1778 - 1839)
Matteo Carcassi (French 1792 - 1853)
Mauro Giuliani (Italian 1781 - 1829)
Francisco Tarrega (Spanish 1852 - 1909)
Julio Salvador Sagreras (Argentina 1879 - 1942)
Agustín Barrios Mangoré (Paraguay 1885 - 1944)
Thierry Tisserand (French guitar professor)
And much more...
WORK INVOLVED IN GUITAR LESSONS
Review student's progress in every lesson to make sure you have reached the technical requirement for the pieces youare working on. Go through what we learn next in a new piece and the way you should practice it at home. Teach you each new piece thoroughly supported by handouts to take home.Review and explain your weekly theory home work. Email students lesson notes weekly.
Student commitment is highly expected to ensure good progress through out the term. Beginners are required a minimum 30 minutes daily practice. Intermediate players are required 40 - 60 minutes daily practice.
Students are encouraged to learn music theory with us to a required level in accordance with AMEB syllabus for Theory of Music. We use 'Master Your Theory' books by Dulcie Holland - EMI Music Publishing - Grade 1 - 6.
The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) for guitar exams are divided up into levels, starting at the Preliminary, Grade 1 up to Grade 8 and then it moves into nationally recognized diplomas: AMusA, LMusA.
For an average student it should take approximately one year of development and hard work at each grade up to Grade 5 and then about two years development and hard work from Grade 6 to 8.
